Liam Lawson has started two United States Grand Prix races. The first produced points from nineteenth on the grid and the second did not, from twelfth.
Two starts, two points, a best finish of ninth. A small record, and the useful half of it came on his first visit.
Ninth from nineteenth, then one place short
The 2024 race was his first at the Circuit of the Americas and it came in the middle of a short stand-in run. Nineteenth on the grid is close to the back, and ninth at the flag meant ten places gained and two points.
At a circuit where the received wisdom is that Saturday sets the ceiling, that was a genuinely useful afternoon in a car that was not quick.

2025 went the other way. Twelfth on the grid for Racing Bulls should have been the better starting point, and eleventh at the flag left him one place outside the points.
Two visits, two finishes, and a ten-place swing between what the grid promised and what the race delivered on each occasion.
Liam Lawson's United States GP record year by year
Every United States Grand Prix start, with the grid slot it came from and what it was worth.
| Season | Grid | Finish | Points | Team |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 19 | P9 | 2 | RB |
| 2025 | 12 | P11 | 0 | Racing Bulls |
Two starts, and the better one came first
No win, no podium, no pole and no fastest lap, from a sample far too small to call it anything. What it does show is a driver who gained ten places on debut here and lost one the next year.
He goes again on 25 October in the VCARB04. On this record the thing to watch is the gap between his grid slot and his finish, which has been the whole story both times.
