Franco Colapinto scored on his first visit to the United States Grand Prix, a few weeks into a Formula 1 career that was only ever meant to last nine races.

Two starts, one point, a best finish of tenth. As at Baku, everything he has came early.

A point with Williams, then a lap down with Alpine

The 2024 race came during his late-season run in the second Williams. He qualified fifteenth and finished tenth, five places gained and a single point at a circuit he had never seen in a Formula 1 car.

It was the second points finish of that stint after Baku, and the two of them account for everything he scored in 2024.

2025 with Alpine was harder work. Fifteenth on the grid again, seventeenth at the flag and a lap down, with no realistic route into the top ten from where the car was.

Two visits, two very different cars, and the same grid slot both times.

One point, and a long way to the next one

No win, no podium, no pole and no fastest lap. The record is two rows long and the interesting thing about it is that the better result came in the less experienced year.

He returns on 25 October in the A526. Starting fifteenth twice and finishing tenth once suggests the circuit will give him something if the car is anywhere near the fight.

In an interesting quirk, no F1 world champion has ever been born in May. Across 35 champions in 76 seasons, every other month appears at least twice.
