George Russell has started six United States Grand Prix races. The two with Williams produced nothing and the four with Mercedes have produced fifth, fifth, sixth and sixth.
Six starts, 37 points, no podium. Few records on the grid are this narrow.
Two blanks, then the same answer four times
The Williams years went as Williams years went: seventeenth in 2019 from eighteenth, two laps down, and fourteenth in 2021 from twentieth. No points and no realistic route to any.
The Mercedes move produced an immediate fifth in 2022 from fourth on the grid, with the fastest lap attached, which is where the extra point in that row comes from.

2023 was fifth again from fifth. 2024 was sixth, and it is the best drive of the four: he started twentieth and finished sixth, fourteen places gained at a circuit where that is not supposed to be available.
2025 made it four in a row, sixth from fourth on the grid. Four visits, four top-six finishes, and not once has he been closer to the podium than fifth.

The podium that has not arrived
Every one of his 37 points here has come in the last four years, and the spread between his best and worst Mercedes result is one position. At Baku the same four-year stretch produced three podiums and a win, so this is not a driver who struggles to convert.
He returns on 25 October in the W17 sitting second in the championship. Austin is now one of the few circuits on the calendar where he has raced four times for Mercedes without a trophy.
