Fernando Alonso has started more United States Grand Prix races than anybody else on the 2026 grid. He has never won one, and the closest he came was at a circuit the race left behind in 2007.
Eighteen starts, two podiums, 62 points and a best finish of second. The record stretches from a Minardi in 2001 to an Aston Martin last year.
Indianapolis first, Austin for the last fourteen years
His first United States Grand Prix was at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2001, in a Minardi, and ended with a driveshaft failure. Five more Indianapolis starts followed, producing a fifth place in 2006 and second in 2007, which is still his best result in the race.
The 2005 edition is the strangest line on the sheet. He qualified sixth and the tyre dispute of that weekend meant he did not take the start, leaving him classified eleventh with nothing.

When the race restarted at the Circuit of the Americas in 2012 he was with Ferrari and took third, his only podium in the Austin era. Fifth in 2013 and sixth in 2014 followed before the McLaren years turned the record flat.
Since 2015 he has scored in only three of eleven visits: fifth in 2016, seventh in 2022 and tenth in 2025. That last one, a single point for Aston Martin at 44, came from tenth on the grid.

Eighteen attempts and counting
No win, no pole and no fastest lap, from more starts at this race than any of his current rivals have managed. Both podiums came more than a decade ago and in different countries, one at Indianapolis and one at Austin.
He goes again on 25 October in the AMR26. A nineteenth start at one Grand Prix is a career statistic in itself, and this is the one race where the length of the list makes the empty win column look stranger every year.
