Alex Albon has started six Azerbaijan Grand Prix races and scored in one of them. For five of those six he simply got the car to the end, which at Baku counts for more than it sounds.
Six starts, six points, a best finish of seventh. Then 2026, which was the first time this circuit took him out of a race.
One scoring afternoon, and a lot of quiet ones
The debut came in 2019 with Toro Rosso: eleventh on the grid, eleventh at the flag, a lap down and nothing on the board. He missed the 2021 race, so the record picks up again in 2022 with Williams, seventeenth on the grid and twelfth at the end, a lap down again.
2023 was the same story from a better grid slot, twelfth to twelfth. In three visits he had finished every race and scored nothing, which is a fair summary of what those cars could do here.

2024 is the exception and it came from the only competitive Saturday he has had at this circuit. Ninth on the grid, seventh at the flag, six points, and the single best result of his Azerbaijan career. It remains the only time he has started a Baku race inside the top ten.
2025 went the other way, nineteenth on the grid and thirteenth at the flag for nothing. Then 2026, twelfth on the grid in the FW48 and out on lap 29, his first retirement here in six attempts and one of seven that afternoon.
Alex Albon's Azerbaijan GP record year by year
Every Azerbaijan Grand Prix start, with the grid slot it came from and what it was worth.
| Season | Grid | Finish | Points | Team |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2019 | 11 | P11 | 0 | Toro Rosso |
| 2022 | 17 | P12 | 0 | Williams |
| 2023 | 12 | P12 | 0 | Williams |
| 2024 | 9 | P7 | 6 | Williams |
| 2025 | 19 | P13 | 0 | Williams |
| 2026 | 12 | P20 | 0 | Williams |
Saturday has set the ceiling every time
His grid slots here read eleventh, seventeenth, twelfth, ninth, nineteenth and twelfth. The one time he qualified inside the top ten he finished seventh, and every other year he has started in traffic at a circuit with a single serious overtaking spot. The explanation for six points in six visits is not complicated.
2026 took away the one thing the record did have going for it. Five finishes from five was a genuinely useful habit at a track that has retired forty one cars since 2017. Now it is five from six, and the scoring column still reads six.
