Alexander Albon's Dutch Grand Prix record is one of the more encouraging entries in the Williams revival. There is no win here and no pole, be that as it may the direction of travel at Zandvoort has been broadly upwards.
Five starts, two points finishes and a best result of fifth. For a driver who spent two seasons in the wilderness before Williams brought him back, that is a respectable return from a circuit that rewards commitment more than horsepower.
The 2023 lap that promised more
The single best moment came in qualifying in 2023, when Albon put the Williams fourth on the grid. It remains his strongest starting position at Zandvoort by a distance, and on a circuit where overtaking is genuinely difficult it should have been the platform for something significant.
Instead he finished eighth. Four points, a solid afternoon, and a reminder that a good Saturday at Zandvoort does not guarantee a good Sunday when the car underneath you is a midfield machine.
A record heading the right way
The finishing order reads twelfth, eighth, fourteenth, fifth and then a retirement. It is not a clean upward line, and 2024 was a genuine low point: nineteenth on the grid, fourteenth at the flag and lapped by the leaders. However the 2025 race was arguably his best drive here, a recovery from fifteenth on the grid to fifth and ten points, which is the sort of result Williams simply could not deliver two years earlier.
2026: the first retirement
The upward trend stalled hard in 2026. Albon qualified sixteenth in a Williams that had gone backwards over the season, and retired from the race, classified seventeenth.
It is his first failure to finish a Dutch Grand Prix in five attempts. Coming twelve months after his best result here, it is a blunt reminder of how much of this record has always depended on the car.

What Zandvoort still owes him
Despite five visits, Albon has never stood on the Zandvoort podium and has never led a lap of the Dutch Grand Prix. The 2023 qualifying performance showed the circuit suits him, and the 2025 result showed the car is finally catching up.
Albon's Dutch Grand Prix record is a story of a driver consistently extracting more than the machinery deserved. Fourteen points from five visits, one near miss from the front two rows and a best of fifth. The 2026 retirement is the first blank line on the sheet, and it came from a car that had nothing to give.
