Formula 1, told through the numbers behind it

GridnTrack is an independent Formula 1 news and data platform. It was founded in 2026 by Nikhil Chauhan, and it exists because following this sport properly meant keeping four tabs open: one for the result, one for the championship table, one for whatever historical stat the commentary had just thrown out, and one to work out whether that stat was actually true.

We set out to build the version where all of that lives in one place and agrees with itself.

Every classification, championship position and career statistic on this site is built from a single structured dataset covering every World Championship round since 1950. That dataset is maintained against the Ergast lineage, currently served by the Jolpica API, and it is reconciled after every Grand Prix. When a result changes, and results do change, the driver profile, the season table and the article quoting it all move together.

That matters more than it sounds. Stewards reclassify races days or weeks after the flag. A reclassification of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix promoted four drivers long after race day and handed one of them the first podium of his career, which quietly made a sentence in one of our published articles false. We re-audit the full season against source after every round specifically to catch things like that, and when we find one we fix the data first and then every piece of writing that leaned on it.

There are two kinds of content here and we think you should be able to tell them apart. Derived content is computed straight from the dataset: standings, classifications, career totals, head to head comparisons, circuit records. Authored content is written by a person: the analysis, the argument, the framing around a number. Where an article makes a claim that is not a direct read of the data, that claim belongs to the writer and is open to challenge.

We do not invent incident detail. If our data records that a car retired but not why, the article says the driver retired and stops there. Colour comes from a named report or from someone who was actually there, never from a plausible guess.
