Lewis Hamilton won the United States Grand Prix the first time he raced in it, as a rookie, from pole, at a circuit the event no longer uses. He has won it five more times since.

Fourteen starts, six wins, ten podiums and 229 points. No driver on the current grid has a better record at any single Grand Prix.

Six wins, and a podium in ten of fourteen visits

The first came at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2007. Hamilton took pole in his debut season for McLaren and led it home, which remains the only United States Grand Prix on his record that was not held in Texas.

When the race moved to the Circuit of the Americas in 2012 he won that too, again for McLaren. Then came the Mercedes run: fourth in 2013, and wins in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Four in a row, three of them from pole.

Even the years he did not win were rarely wasted. Third in 2018, second in 2019, 2021 and 2022, which makes eleven podiums from his first twelve attempts here if you count the Indianapolis win.

The two blanks are recent and neither was about pace. He was disqualified in 2023 after finishing second, and retired from the 2024 race having started seventeenth. In 2025, his first Austin weekend with Ferrari, he qualified fifth and finished fourth.

The circuit that has given him the most

Six wins, five poles' worth of front-row starts and 229 points from fourteen visits. For context, the next best win tally among drivers racing in 2026 belongs to Max Verstappen with four.

He returns on 25 October in the SF-26. A seventh win here would be his first since 2017, and the gap between those two numbers is the whole story of the second half of his career.
