Nico Hulkenberg has started eleven United States Grand Prix races and scored in six of them, which at Circuit of the Americas makes this one of the friendlier circuits on his calendar.

Eleven starts, 30 points, no podium and a best finish of sixth, reached twice.

A middle that went missing, and a steady recent run

The opening pair were his best for a long while: eighth for Force India in 2012 and sixth for Sauber in 2013 from fourth on the grid, which is still his equal-best result here.

Then four blank years in a row. An engine failure in 2014, an accident in 2015, a collision in 2016 and another engine in 2017 meant that between 2014 and 2017 he came away from Austin with nothing at all, despite starting inside the top seven three times.

2018 put it right with sixth from seventh, and 2019 added a ninth. After a three-year gap out of Formula 1 he came back to the circuit in 2023 and finished eleventh.

The last two have been the most consistent of the lot: eighth in 2024 and eighth again in 2025, both from eleventh on the grid, four points each time.

11 starts at the United States Grand Prix, 30 championship points, best finish 6th, 4 retirements. Hulkenberg did not race in 2020, 2021 or 2022. All of them were held at the Circuit of the Americas. Grand Prix results only, sprint races excluded. Source: GridnTrack race data.

The circuit where he actually scores

Thirty points from eleven starts does not sound like much until you set it beside Baku, where seven visits have produced none at all. Austin has given him something in more than half his attempts.

He arrives on 25 October in the R26 with Audi. Two eighth places in a row suggest a seventh scoring finish is well within reach, which on this record would be an entirely normal weekend.
