Oscar Piastri has started three United States Grand Prix races. The first ended early and the two since have both ended fifth.
Three starts, 20 points, no podium. It is a short record that has already settled into a pattern.
A retirement, then the same result twice
The 2023 debut was the blank one. He qualified tenth for McLaren and retired, classified seventeenth with nothing.
2024 put that right immediately: fifth on the grid, fifth at the flag, ten points at the Circuit of the Americas.

2025 repeated it almost exactly. Sixth on the grid this time, fifth again, another ten points. Two visits, two identical results, from grid slots one place apart.
Both came in the same season his team mate Lando Norris finished fourth and second here, which is the clearest measure available of how much room is left in this record.
Oscar Piastri's United States GP record year by year
Every United States Grand Prix start, with the grid slot it came from and what it was worth.
| Season | Grid | Finish | Points | Team |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 10 | P17 | 0 | McLaren |
| 2024 | 5 | P5 | 10 | McLaren |
| 2025 | 6 | P5 | 10 | McLaren |
Consistent, and not yet quick enough
No win, no podium, no pole and no fastest lap. Three starts is a small sample, but two fifth places in a car that has been winning races elsewhere is a specific kind of result: solid, repeatable, and short of what the machinery allowed.
He returns on 25 October in the MCL40. A first Austin podium would break a pattern that has so far been remarkably reluctant to move.
