So close yet so far
There is no worse place to finish than eleventh. It is the position that means the drive was good enough to be noticed and not good enough to count.
Be that as it may, the Alpine was not a points car that weekend, and eleventh was roughly the ceiling.
The 2026 race gave the first point of comparison, and it was a flatter one: fourteenth on the grid, fourteenth at the flag and no ground gained. The shape of the 2025 afternoon remains the more encouraging of the two, because he qualified where the car belonged and raced forwards rather than backwards.
2026: no ground gained
The second visit was quieter than the first. Colapinto qualified fourteenth and finished fourteenth, holding station in an Alpine that had nothing more to offer on the day.
Two starts, no points, and a race that never threatened the top ten. Where 2025 at least showed forward movement, 2026 was the Zandvoort default: start in the lower midfield, finish in the lower midfield.

A record waiting for a second chapter
No points, no podium, no pole and no fastest lap from two starts. What the record does show is a driver who gained ground on his first visit at a track where most people hold station.
Colapinto's Dutch Grand Prix record is two lines long and still empty. Zandvoort owes him a point, and on the evidence of that first visit he is capable of collecting it.
