About Scandinavian Raceway
Scandinavian Raceway at Anderstorp hosted the Swedish Grand Prix from 1973 to 1978, its brief run driven by the popularity of Ronnie Peterson and Gunnar Nilsson. Built on a marsh, it was flat, smooth and unusually featureless.
Its most distinctive characteristic was practical rather than sporting: the main straight doubled as the runway of the adjacent airfield, so teams could land aircraft directly at the circuit.
Anderstorp is best remembered for the 1976 Swedish Grand Prix, won by Jody Scheckter in the six-wheeled Tyrrell P34 — the only Formula 1 victory for a car with more than four wheels.
