About Intercity Istanbul Park
Istanbul Park hosted the Turkish Grand Prix from 2005 to 2011 and returned twice during the disrupted 2020 and 2021 seasons. It runs anti-clockwise, and its reputation rests almost entirely on one corner.
Turn eight is a long, fast, downhill left with four distinct apexes, taken at over 265 km/h and lasting close to ten seconds — a duration that put sustained lateral loads on drivers and tyres unlike anything else on the calendar. Drivers routinely named it among the best corners in Formula 1.
The circuit's 2020 return was memorable for a resurfacing that left the track exceptionally slippery in the wet, producing a race in which cars struggled for grip throughout and Lewis Hamilton sealed his seventh world title.
