Cadillac F1 team have announced a major change in their team during the summer break, confirming that Team Principal Graeme Lowdon will depart from the role effective immediately, with Marcin Budkowski jumping in to replace him.
A New Chapter for Cadillac F1
The CEO of Cadillac F1, ↗︎Dan Towriss, has shared some insights into the decision to make a change to the leadership of the team:
"From the beginning, our goal has not been simply to participate in Formula 1, but to build a next-generation team capable of competing at the very front. As we enter this new era for the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, Marcin brings exceptional F1 experience, technical expertise and strategic leadership that will strengthen our organisation and help us develop the winning mindset, tools and processes required for long-term success."

In the first half of the season, Cadillac are at the bottom of the team and driver standings with 0 points, though the team have had points within their reach at several points in the season. While pace is important for the team, reliability has also plagued the team, especially when it comes to their brakes and suspensions, which has caused one or both drivers to retire from the races on multiple occasions this season. An issue that Budkowski would like to focus on during the second half of the season.
Budkowski's plan for Cadillac for the remainder of the season
After the announcement was made, Budkowski had the opportunity to share his vision for the second half of the 2026 season and also outline where he would like to focus his efforts in improving Cadillac:
“Cadillac Formula 1 Team has an extraordinary foundation and ambition. This is a phase of huge opportunity for the team, one that will be defined by a clear objective: maximising car development within the cost cap and turning every team function on to compete. That means building an elite organisation with a winning mindset – driven, relentless in the face of setbacks, obsessed with detail and process, and able to execute with precision on race day."
“My focus will be on aligning our people, tools and information flow so the right decisions are made quickly, and the performance of the car improves every time we go racing. It is a privilege to be leading Cadillac Formula 1 Team’s on-track efforts, starting in Zandvoort next weekend.”
While this new chapter for Cadillac is expected to bring changes, they have a lot of effort ahead of them to catch up to the existing teams due to their novelty. Cadillac remains at the bottom battling with the likes of Aston Martin, who have also been struggling for other reasons.
