About Jeddah Corniche Circuit

The Jeddah Corniche Circuit opened in 2021 and is the fastest street circuit in Formula 1 history, with an average lap speed above 250 km/h. It is also the second-longest lap on the calendar, and almost all of its 27 corners are taken at high speed.

What makes it unusual is that the walls are close at nearly all of them. Long, flowing, banked left-handers along the Red Sea coast are run at over 250 km/h with barriers on both sides and limited forward visibility — the reason drivers describe it as the most intimidating circuit of the year. Blind apexes are the norm rather than the exception.

Three DRS zones keep overtaking possible despite the layout, but the combination of high speed and close walls means safety cars and red flags are frequent, and races here have been interrupted more often than at almost any other venue on the calendar.
