About Ain Diab
The Ain Diab circuit, laid out on public roads along the coast outside Casablanca, hosted one World Championship Grand Prix — the 1958 Moroccan Grand Prix, the final round of that season.
The race decided the drivers' title. Mike Hawthorn finished second behind Stirling Moss, which was enough to take the championship by a single point and make him Britain's first world champion.
The same race also caused Vanwall driver Stuart Lewis-Evans fatal burns after an engine failure, and Hawthorn retired from racing immediately afterwards. He was killed in a road accident three months later.
